For this project, our design-build team worked closely with the homeowners to create a mudroom, a portico, and an expansive outdoor living space as well as a full exterior renovation to update style and efficiency while maintaining the country look of the two other structures on the property. After building the mudroom addition and portico, we started from the top down with a new roof, rebuilt chimney and bright new copper flashing, barn red pre-painted Hardie Board siding, PVC trim, Anderson windows, and ThermaTru exterior doors. We preserved the existing 3-season porch roof while removing the walls and concrete slab beneath it. Then, we built a new Trex Transcend deck as the 3-season porch floor and also expanded the deck footprint by adding on a 12’ deck outside of the enclosed porch to create an enormous outdoor space. The new walls of the 3-season porch are wrapped in PVC to eliminate maintenance or concern of deterioration, and include custom screens with removable acrylic panels.
