We recently had the opportunity to complete our third project on a beautiful Spring Glen home that was designed by Alice Washburn in the early 1900’s. This most recent project was to renovate the 2nd floor bathroom. We added wainscoting on the walls in place of the tile, a lovely patterned floor tile, and white tiles on the bathtub walls, larger yet still reminiscent of the originals. We replaced the bathtub, added a wall between the tub and the sink, and installed a recessed cabinet for additional storage. In the shower, we kept the unique valve location to maintain the look of the original design, while moving all of the plumbing out of the exterior wall to eliminate concerns of freezing pipes.

During one of our earlier projects on this house, we renovated an existing addition after a water leak and built a new ½ bathroom in that space. We resurfaced all of the plaster walls and ceilings as well as installed custom door, window, and baseboard trim, matching the original mouldings that remains in the home to maintain the look chosen by the designer herself.

The other project we completed for these homeowners was to upgrade all of the oversized windows, typical of a Washburn house, to new Harvey Tribute EnergySTAR windows with 6 over 6 grills, as well as sanding and refinishing the hardwood floors throughout.
