In this whole house renovation, our designers worked to maintain the unique style and charm of this 1914 Wallingford home while actualizing the vision of the homeowner to turn this house into their dream home. To accomplish this goal, we started by adding a 38’ stone porch across the entire front of the home and using the same stone to face the foundation and two chimneys. Inside, we created an open space kitchen and dining area by installing a load bearing beam wrapped to match the wood finish of the kitchen cabinets and complimented by the wainscoting design installed to mimic the original paneling that was in the dining room. This open flow continues on through the dining area into the large living room with a marvelous granite and oak fireplace surround and mantle as well as custom oak cabinets built to house the tv when it’s not being used. At the front of the living room, you pass through the new arched opening which, along with a 4th arch leading into the kitchen, mirrors the two original archways in the home. New or refinished hardwood floors throughout the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. Grass wallpaper in the living room, foyer, and wrapping up the stairs and down the 2nd floor hallway, as well as a different wallpaper with a “fun print” in the powder room. Upstairs in the master bedroom, we created a new en suite bathroom with stunning marble tile and shower bench. Bright and open with two windows. Updated low profile Runtal heat units here, as well as in the master bedroom and hall bathroom for a sleek look that takes up much less space. There are two additional bedrooms on the 2nd floor as well as the craft room and the newly created laundry room. On the 3rd floor, we finished the floors and walls to maximize the usable space. Fresh stucco, new windows, recessed lighting throughout the 1st floor and beyond, gas boiler and central AC, Ring doorbell and exterior lighting, and Cat6 lines run in every room help to bring this 1914 home into the 2020s while still achieving the craftsman style requested by the homeowners.
